Karl is a licensed Realtor and holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Coe College. He is actively involved in listing, sales and leasing of commercial properties as well as multi-family/residential assignments. Karl has been associated with Scott Olson in real estate since 1996 and is presently in the process of completing Mt. Mercy College's Executive MBA program.

Penelope L. Olson, CFO
Penny is a licensed real estate salesperson who coordinates all closings while also serving as the office and accounting manager. An office associate since 1993, Penelope also provides day-to-day administrative services for Scott Olson.

Sharon R. Laird, Office Assistant
Sharon joined the team in 2006. She has worked with Doug in multi-family property management since 1986, and now continues to provide him administrative support in the broader real estate market.

Ruth A. Baugh, Office Assistant
Ruth has served as part-time office assistant since the fall of 2007. She shares administrative duties with Doug's wife, Sharon.

Skogman Commercial Group was established in 1993 to provide comprehensive real estate services from a single source. In 1999, Scott Olson formed Third Avenue Commercial in the Higley Building in downtown Cedar Rapids. In 2001 Doug Laird joined the group and became Scott’s business partner in 2003. On June 11th 2008, the office was destroyed by an historic Cedar Rapids flood. In September 2008, Skogman Commercial at the Penthouse was occupied as the new home of the Olson/Laird real estate team.
